Paul Joseph Kohler

Paul Joseph Kohler is a versatile pianist, collaborator, and music director known for his technical prowess and compelling interpretations. He currently serves as a staff pianist for the theater and dance departments at Utah Valley University and is pianist for the Wasatch Chorale, the SCERA Chamber Singers, and instrumentalists and vocalists throughout the Utah Valley area.

This commitment to collaborative excellence was deeply shaped by his decade in Arizona. During his tenure in Tucson, Mr. Kohler was a cornerstone of the musical community, serving six years as Music Director for Church of the Painted Hills, UCC. In addition to playing for hundreds of services, he was a prolific performer at the University of Arizona's Holsclaw Hall and various regional venues. His work highlights a diverse repertoire, ranging from solo recitals and chamber collaborations to premiering works by up-and-coming composers.

Mr. Kohler's artistry is shaped by a distinguished lineage of teachers, including Michael Lobberegt, Sofia Rosoff (a direct protégé of Abby Whiteside), and Steinway Artists Hilary Demske and John Milbauer. He holds an undergraduate degree from Utah Valley University and a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Arizona, where he studied under the renowned pedagogue Paula Fan. With a particular focus on contemporary music and improvisation, Mr. Kohler brings a unique blend of intellectual curiosity and artistic sensitivity to the stage, seeking to illuminate the expressive depths of every work he performs.
